What he did for Shiny Things

With a burst of energy he zipped through the crowd of the bazaar, speedy enough to get far into the cluster of forms before the cry went up into air.
"Thief!"
Unfortunately for the self proclaimed and knowledgeable thief, this world was not his own. Jamil did not know his way around this world, he did not know it's people. It's culture, and he looked very very different.

A sore thumb really among all of the drag colors of the desert city, his purples, yellows and pinks. He had not drawn his rapiers, both sheathed at his waist as he really wanted no trouble. But before the fight with Saruin they had spent every last bit of gold they had on equipment, training. Oh and hotels, fancy hotels. Why..well they were going to die! So now Jamil was left penniless and on a foreign world. A world he had no clue about and was still trying to figure out.

Awakening on this world his head had lolled as he had awoken to sweltering heat that reminded him of the far norths of Mardias, at first believing he was among the ruins their. The ruins that were atop Nisa's temple that hardly anyone ever found. But no this place was bustling, he could hear the voices and see people walking about. Where was he...?

The pieces of dried meat in one hand and the small container of water was what he had stolen. Well..before he had seen that ring with the ruby on it that matched the one on hand that was the Fatestone Ruby. Hardly worth getting caught over by the city guards in Jamil's opinion. Though Jamil was starving, and thirsty. Sooo thirsty! Shoot! Veering to the right down an alley he ran jumping from one crate up onto a stack of two and onto a ledge. Standing their a second to catch his breath two guards swore below him, Jamil gave an acrobatic leap, and went into a flourishing bow. Adding insult to injury to the guards before ducking into a near window. Exiting finally at another point of the city away from the hussle and bustle of the bazaar he sat down on the ledge above the people chewing on the jerky.

He did really look out of place, his hat pink with swirling designs and a feather. In purple swirling design top, and pointy shoes under his black pants. His hair was teal and his eyes aqua. Oh...and their were those pointed ears of his. Though he was human..as far as he knew anyways.

Pouring some of the water down his throat some managed to splash down his front a bit in his haste and it began to drip off the ledge to hit the sandy ground below.

(Please if you decide to join, if you see I post a good amount I want the same type of thing back. Have that much respect.)

Ivory wandered through Agrabah attempting to avoid the many people that traversed this place. It was a stark contrast to Traverse Town which was dark, dank, dull and murky. Night and day were the same, time almost seemed to stand still in the ever present shadowy twilight. Although Traverse Town was now her home she wished to venture beyond it and experience something different. All that she wanted was a holiday.

In Traverse Town she was pretty much the blind girl she was. It was often too dark with little light to assist her severely damaged eye sight. But Agrabah was another story. Agrabah was bright, the people happy and catting between themselves. The hustle and bustle, the loud noise was a change indeed. And although the people were wonderful, they stopped and stared. She could feel their gaze upon her - curious and accusing eyes. People always were afraid of something different, something they didn't understand. Their culture was still a mystery but Ivory was sure they had not advanced technologically. They were not like Gaians.

They looked as most poeple would. Her white thin hair, choppy and short, layered. The slightest of breezes could move it. Ivy's eyes bright pink with a darker ring around the outside with the palest of skin. The occasional river of bright blue amonst a sea of blankness. Her clothes were not of the normal persuasion here either. Dark, strangely cut and wearing boots. Several people had attempted to touch her weapons, the guards too. Females did not show any outwards violence obvious or of suggestion.

She quickly learned that they would trade with her munny. It was shiny and jingled, enough to spark attention and curiousity. Some native currency was now in her possession but the strange looks she could feel drove her away to a quieter place.

It was hot here. Hotter than she had ever experienced, now acclimated to the cool of the dank town. This had not been her destination of choice, but along the way she had gotten lost, forced to land on the nearest planet. Still, it could have been much worse.

Jamil studied the ring he had aquired in his little game of hide and seek from the guards which he would have to play again if they came around. Ah well, made life more interesting for the thief who was stuck on this world he did not know. South Estamir had never really had winters, he had not seen snow till he went into the far far south into the old lands where it was icy and snowy all year round. But this place was getting to be to much. The ring was quite a beauty and he could easily sell it to a merchant across the city who would be none the wiser and he all the richer.

That sounded like a plan. Corking the container full of water he stuffed it in a pocket and finished the pieces of jerky quickly. Standing up he brushed off his bottom and his knees. Then inspecting his shirt for any wayward dirt or sand. He looked down though when he heard some people chattering among themselves, in those tones. Yah those tones. Those, I'm talking about you and I don't want you to hear tones. He knew those to well. Peering down at the two women he frowned a bit wondering what they were talking about and who they could be whispering stuff about. Eyes of one looked to a young woman who seemed different from the rest in apperance, she looked almost like what were those people called? Albino? Yah, the ones with no color to them at all. He had never meet one of them before.

Jumping down from the ledge to land right beside the two perfectly on his feet he gave them a good spook, one literally jumping, the other clutching her chest and stumbling back. Jamil smiled sheepishly to them, though he was happy seeing them so shocked. That's what you get for gossiping!
"Sorry ladies," his smile turning into a grin, they both huffed. Well it seemed somethings world to world didn't change...

People would remain being rude and would talk behind peoples backs. Gossip and be snobbish over the slightest differences.

Oh wow..he had not seen weapons like that either, his attention back on the woman he had been looking at from the ledge. She couldn't be from around here no way! She was to different. Maybe..just maybe he wasn't alone in this being not his world?
"Uhh.." He approuched her rubbing down his front, he was far shorter then most only 5'0 tall as he is trying to stand upright at that moment fully. For when he runs he bends down almost fully horizontal and loses even more height.
"Lady, I'm Jamil. I'm sort of..well, alright. I'm more then sort of lost."

Ivory heard a soft thud but thought nothing of it. She was busy ignoring the whispered words - rather loudly in her opinion - about her. Perhaps it had not been such a good idea to land here. She attracted far too much attention to herself. Her love of weaponry wasn't helping her either.

She turned when she heard a voice. The figure before her was rather small, smaller than the rest of the people here. he spoke differently too which was interesting. However, she smiled politely at him. "My name is Ivory. Agrabah...well it's different," She said.

The good thing about being almost blind was she couldn't and didn't judge people herself. Eyes, ears, hair, clothes, scars, perfect skin and skinny tight jeans and teeny tops or rags she didn't care. It was the person. The richest of people could be the most horrible yet the knidest could be the poorest. It all depended on the pearson, their life experiences not what they wore or how much money the possessed.

"If you want help finding your way about here, I'm afraid I cannot be of much help but f you need a lift I can take you someplace else," Ivory offered for being helpful was easy to her, even to strangers. Even a best friend would always be a stranger in some ways.  Her gummi was big enough for two, even four.  Of course  by then it would be quite cramped and uncomfortable but not impossible.

The polite smile was good, really good. It meant she wouldn't make fun of him cause of his height or his clothes, which he rather liked thank you. And she was going to speak to him too.
A nod of his head, "Jamil," he answered back for a name, "Well I know a few placesl like it but still it is kinda different."

Still looking about at anyone who was talking about her, he handled it in his own way sticking his tongue out at them if they blatantly said anything and were looking at them. It's called finesse people! You gossip behind someone's back not to their face! Jeez...

"Wowa! Wait a second, you can-," With a happy cry he danced on the spot on his tippy toes, showin acrobatic ease with his tiny light weight body. Even jumping into the air a bit then landing again on tippy toes.
"Sweet! So you can get me off of this sweltering rock? That would be so awesome, I can repay you, I don't have any gold on me or anything only this ring I just got but if it's enough that would great. I really do want off this world, it's so hot here!"

(That sucked.)

"They seem to think I'm deaf," Ivory smiled. Jamil was exciteable which was nice. It was refreshing to the conserved nature of people she was used to seeing. There were dark people, mysterious and twisted hding among those of great moral standards pretending to be one themselves. Darkness took many forms not just that of plain and simple shadow. As Ivy lived and experienced she saw many times.

However all that is does not glitter.

Many people who at first appeared rough and of a cunning nature hid their soft and kind nature behind masks and guises. It was often difficult to tell between the two. There were very few people who were straight foward in their personalities and open. The universe needed a few more of those people.

Sometimes the simplest of people could be the kindest.

Ivory shook her head. "There's no need," refusing the offer. She helped because she wanted to- she sought no reward. She was on holiday, people on holiday were generous. She wasn't working so she wouldn't ask for anything. "Yes it is rather hot here. Do you have somewhere specific you would rather be?"

"Yah they must believe you are deaf, or their incredibly stupid for-," speaking up more as those nearby were listening to them a little,"Gossiping, about you when you could hear them as clear as day."
Grinning as he seemed to insult a few of the older women, served them right. Talking about a girl behind her back and espicially when she was around! And heck even worse a blind girl! Jeez did these guys have no credibility at all, he may steal from people but he didn't speak bad of people who didn't deserve it!

"Oh really? Awesome!" Doing another small dance on the spot causing more attention to be brought to them. Opps...Man these people really needed to get out more they kept starring for almost no reason at all.
"Umm specific? Well..sense Death kidnapped me or something I have had no idea where I am. I'm certainly not on Mardias anylonger so it doesn't really matter I suppose. Mardias is safe from Saruin so that is all that really mattered to me. We put our all into stopping him so Mardias is safe. So with that done I would find it awesome to explore. So any world your going to I guess if it's not a problem to have a tag along."

Grinning, "Really I am helpful so it shouldn't be to much of a problem. I'm Jamil a thief at your service of course those thieving services would only be used in 'your' favor, not on you."

"It's only human nature," Ivy told Jamil. Poeple always gossiped about the curious and horrifying. It wouldn't be iteresting otherwise. The needed to talk about it otherwise they'd explode. Ivory was long used to being discussed whilst present. Some people didn't eve realise they were doing it which was a shame really. It didn't bother her in the slightest that people talked. It was a little embarrasing but that was it.

Jamil was mischevious. Perhaps there was a little bit of meaness present but there had to be a good reason for that. However the small male did it in such a way that it was easily forgiven. "Jamil you'll just get yourself into trouble," She informed him gently. The security here was naturally very biased towards their own citizens and suspicious of outsiders. Ivory had a sneaky suspicion that being thrown in some sort of cell for a period of time was common practice here and she had no desire to be locked up. Of course judging by their way of life she coudl be out again in mere moments she didn't fancy being on the run either.

Ivory smiled gently. "Death kidnapped you?" Normally she wouldn't ask about such things but....it was death afterall and doesn't death usually claim people rather than abduct them? Unless Death had a physical representation which could think and act on its own? ivory had no idea. Death on Gaia was relatively simple. There was no kidnapping to speak of.

"That's very kind of you," Ivy said to Jamil when he told her she was off the stealing from list. Chances are the little guy was lying - thiefs do that - but Ivy had an open mind and took people at their word most of the time. "I was thinking about sticking around here for a while, but if you'd rather leave..." Either way she didn't mind. Agrabah was strange, hot and dusty. And the people weren't exactly friendly.

"Well still, most people can wait until the person their talking about is at least out of earshot jeez."
Jamil grinned and his hand laid over Espada Ropera as he knew The Sword of Earth would cause to much damage here with so many about. Yah he was getting in trouble again, but that was what speed was for. Take the guards on a merry cat and mouse run of course he was no mouse. Then just round back around another way to Ivory so they didn't go for her too. But she was blind he didn't really think attracting more attention was a smart idea. Ah well.
"But it's fun though, passes the otherwise boring time in this place."

"Oh, yah, we had defeated him before but after Saruin on our way back to where ever each of was going, I never really knew where some of them were off to. Grey just was a treasure hunter/adventurer by nature so who knew really, and Barbara just wanted to dance again. But I fell asleep and Death was hovering over me and he forced me to black out again and here I was. He kidnapped me! What else can explain this, because I know I'm dead, we all survived the last battle so why else would I be off my world except Death kidnapping me and planting me on some other world..Wait. Speaking of which if he had done that to me maybe he did it to the others too!"

Lips pursing as he thought on that new theory he shrugged and smiled at her.
"Your helping me out so I don't need to steal from you though others are fair game of course."
Stay or leave..stay or leave..
"Well I don't have much here, and the people are kind of bothersome with their gossiping but the lady with the ship so whatever you want to do."

Ivory pondered Jamil for a moment. "I suppose it could be death....but it could have been the Darkness too. It's taking a lot of people from their homes and landing them in strange and foreign locations. It doesn't discriminate. It consumes the world, swallowing it whole or shrouding it, I don't know. I just know that it's not there anymore." She smiled at Jamil. "Last I checked I was alive and I'm sure you are too. You do ahve a pulse, don't you?"

Ivory indicated she was about to take a stroll. "Thank you for defending me but it doesn't bother me all that much," She spoke truthfully. The truth and the past hurt but there was no use crying over it because people were curious and sometimes cruel. She had lived like this long enough to be able to defend herself reasonabely well and efficiently. She may not be as good as she once was, but defence in any degree was better than knowledge of none.

"I need to get some food for the trip anyway. You can buy if you like," Ivory offered. Jamil should like that. Munny and gold pieces were shiny enough and valuable. "No stealing," she said sternly. She wouldn't tolerate it unless it could be helped. Technically they were guests here and it wouldn't do to steal from their hosts. She may have chosen exile but those Wutain standards were still drummed into her and it was just good manners too.

"Darkness?" he questioned even as she answered, ****ing his head to the side in a overly dramatic motion of not understanding. Darkness huh? That didn't sound good, did that mean that Mardias after all the work they did to save it could really still be in jeapordy? Man wouldn't that rub alot of them raw to know. They had hoped they could get on with their lives after they had defeated Saruin. But nope here he was on some foreign planet he had no idea of. He really hoped it was just Death, that way his world would still exist and he could go home and patronize the God for kidnapping him!

"Oh well yah..I have a pulse."
She was right, stop being so hysterical, your still alive Jamil. And with that his hopes got a little brighter, pushing aside what could be happening to his world. Their was nothing he could do right now so why cry over something you couldn't change?
"Oh, people have done this to you alot?" He asked wondering why she seemed to not be bothered by them.
"I remember when I was a kid after my parents died panhandling, I got kicked around alot and made fun of. I hated it."

"Ahh, well alright. I can pilfer this back to someone and get some gold I guess. I wont steal if I don't have to."
He seemed to pout a little at the prospect. It was his life, his past time, and he was quite good at it!

Ivory liked Jamil despite his tendency to thieve. She was interested to discover the reason. He seemed to like it so she was considering the option of it being a life style choice, or that it had become one after being persuaded or forced into it. Ivory herself couldn't really imagine thieving. Wutai had too many morals and virtues to uphold that sort of behaviour. At the her parents had been very proper and squashed out rebellion fiercely. They would not have understood nor have had the time or patience to deal with it. Ivory's act of rebellion had been to leave. There was no going back after that.

Jamil struck her as a slightly hyperactive teenager though she was sure he was a little older than that. No matter though, you are as old as you feel they say.

Ivory nodded. "Looking like I do, I was very different from my people. They all have dark hair, pale skin but with stronger pigmentation, strong dark eyes. So people my age made fun of me. It's worse now when people realise my eyes are severely damaged," She said plainly. Living in darkness, you had to find new ways to see the light. Optimism was a good start as was forgiveness. She had always been positive in nature but, more so now. Most likely she was fairer than before since her view of someone could not be swayed by their appearance.

"We are guests here. We should act as such. They at least, have not thrown us in jail," For the most part she had been left alone although she was wary of the security as they were her. The Universe was an odd place, growing steadily stranger with the influx of refugees from many diverse worlds. When would it all stop? Where would it all end? Would everything just fade away as the darkness consumes everything?

Jamil listened and nodded to her his lips pursing as he heard her story.

"People are always like that, looking for a reason to single you out, to make fun of you. To hate you, it's pretty sad really. My hair is really weird color but I was born with it like this, oh and my teeth, their really sharp kind of cat fangs. No idea why. Thankfully at least all people in South Estamir had pointed ears like mine. Butmy eyes and hair were weird when I was a kid so that didn't help the teasing, espicially when you lived on the streets."

Tapping his chin with his fingers a moment, "Isn't their anything to be done for your eyes Ivory? Or has it just been to long? I mean I guess you would get used to living without seeing after some time."

Speaking of Guards and not being thrown in jail...
"Oh..well I kind of teased two of the guards but if they come after me I'll make certain they come after me alone. After all I was the one to antagonise them so it's my fault and I'll deal with it. Though hopefully they just will be elsewhere now."

Walking with her he explained what he knew already of this place, and told her where she could find good food which he had earlier salivated over and thought of stealing but that he did not say. So he began to lead her to the merchant with food not by hand no, he stayed close to her side no leaving it but he did not touch her. That was rude without her permission.

"Yes," Ivory nodded. People had the tendency to be cruel, children especially. Despite this many of those children would mature into well rounded perfectly genuine adults. Others would remain the sameor slowly get worse as time progressed. They may never learn their words were unacceptable. Most recognised that bigger stronger people would eventually come along and wouldn't allow themselves to be treated in such a manner. It was a comfort really. That people here could be mean like those at home. Even in the big universe, all alone with only a stranger for company, wandering worlds that you couldn't possibly imagine, civilisation remained familiar and similar in terms of social interaction. A strange comfort indeed.

"I am not completely blind. It is a long and complicated story. There was no knowing that this could have happened and when dealing with a force more unpredictable and powerful than yourself it is often difficult to repair the damage. He was gifted in his own way," Even if his talent had been for malicious deeds and ominous dealings. The creepy man certainly did learn well.

"Perhaps in time there will be a way to recover what was lost but even then, I am uncertain whether I would accept it or not," So much had happened in such a little amount of time. Who knew who she would be tomorow if her eyes could suddenly comprehend shape better. It certainly would be nice though.

"I do not consider myself unfortunate. There are the odd occasions when I find myself wishing I had my old vision back but life isn't life without tests of faith and character," Finding oneself critically ill was certainly good for reality checks. It seemed to have done Rufus ShinRa the world of good, announcing he wanted to help heal the world he had assisted in so terribly wounding. How could you pour energy back into a raw soul when you didn't truly understand what that energy was? Was the Life Stream like blood and over time renew itself?

Ivory chuckled at Jamil's teasing of the guards. They did seem to be a stuffy bunch. "That's kind of you Jammi thank you," She smiled allowing herself to be lead away listen to Jamil chatter. He certain was a curious guy indeed.
