I was going back through Re:Chain of Memories, just 'cause... and in Basement One, where Riku get the cloak from DiZ, DiZ mentions that the Organization wear those cloaks for more than just spiffy fashion... He tells Riku that wearing the cloak will render the Nobodies' eyes and noses useless--making him virtually invisible to them. (He also says that it's the cloaks that keep the Organization members from being devoured by the Darkness, so it apparently functions as some kind of armor for them..)
So my question is this--how useful do you think the Organization cloaks would be as protection from the Hollows' noses? Would it mask the wearer's presence at all?
Just looking to know since I think Vexen's about ready to pop into Radiant Garden... just wanna make sure I don't make an @ss of myself when he does, ya know?

Yep. The original japanese and the new english differ only slightly on the explanation... but the two main points are exactly the same. If Riku and Mickey wear the cloaks, Nobodies and Organization cannot sense they're there and they're protected from the Darkness.
He also makes mention that the cloak can't do anything to hide Mickey's ears. ^^;

Well protection from the darkness..nobodies weren`t considered darkness were they? I thought they were considered twilight/inbetween. Or that just may be my feverish brain talking.
As if the nobodies were considered darkness to be protected from then no the hollows would still pick up on you as their not darkness. Their neither. I just don't understand how the cloaks would protect from darkness and the nobodies if they 'weren't' darkness.
Yes, that's right. Nobodies were beings of neither the Light, nor the Darkness. But they knew how to manipulate Darkness... so to work with it, they needed protection from it. Each time a normal, living person uses the Darkness, their Hearts become more and more infected with Darkness. It eats away at them from the inside out.
Nobodies have already lost their Hearts, thus, the only thing left for the Darkness to devour is their bodies and memories. When they die, they "fade into Darkness". Likely the only reason they fade into Darkness is because the Darkness already has something of theirs. In an interview, Nomura confirmed there was a high probability that the Nobodies of the Organization could come back, provided their Hearts were cleansed by the Keyblade. This means that when a Nobody is defeated and fades, what makes them who they are becomes immaterial, but still retains SOME connection to their Hearts.
But that's neither here nor there. Specifically, DiZ tells Riku "The Organization will pursue you like a pack of hunting dogs. They will sneak up on you if they sense your presence. However, this cloak that is worn by Nobodies will render their eyes and their noses useless. [here, DiZ looks pointedly at Mickey's ears] The ears... not so. They wear this to give themselves protection from being devoured by Darkness. Is it clear? Even the Organization cannot rule the Darkness."
But it wasn't the protection from Darkness that I was focusing on... it was the fact that somehow the cloaks could mask the fact that Riku was NOT a Nobody. As long as Riku and King Mickey were wearing the cloaks, the Nobodies couldn't tell they were there. They couldn't sense them. Couldn't find them even while looking. I was just curious if this mysterious invisibility would extend to other creatures, since a big feature of the Hollows was their noses...
(....yet Zexion could smell when Vexen died... methinks Nomura may have made a continuity error... hmm...)

I haven't played Chain as my ps2 is without video/audio cords. Soooooooo

Even after a few days thinking (While in feverish delirium (best times for thinking no?) of sleep) I don't know, I mean it's stated the Hollows are neither dark or light and the coats hide from darkness? I'm not meaning to say no forth right I'm just pondering this.
