This was the third bar Axel had visited that evening, and the first he hadn't been kicked out of - yet. "Bartender, another!" he shouted, banging on the table and earning himself a few glares from nearby patrons before they resumed their nonsensical French chatter. Axel didn't speak a word of French, nor did the bartender speak a word of English, but lifting his empty cup and gesturing broadly managed to get the point across just fine.

Roxas - that is, Sora, but it made Axel feel (ha, feel) a bit better to think of him as Roxas, and in his current state of slight inebriation he saw no reason not to - but regardless, Roxas was nowhere to be found. Organization XIII had apparently fallen while Axel was taking a dirt-nap at The End of the Worlds, and the Keybearer and his band of do-gooding buddies had retreated to their peaceful little paradise in a world so bright and shiny that the Dark Corridors apparently wanted nothing to do with it, as he couldn't find anywhere to open a portal.

And so Axel found himself at a dead-end, of sorts. He had never driven a gummi ship, and wasn't particularly inclined to learn, but if that was the only way to get him to Roxas then he'd be damned if he let that stop him.

He wasn't even sure what he expected to find, if he did manage to reach.. Sora. Surely Roxas had settled, merged with his Other or some sh*t like that - would he even be separate enough from Sora to recognize Axel? He wasn't stupid enough to hope.

And yet.. and yet, he couldn't just give up. Not without seeing for himself, and.. well, what else was he going to do with his second chance at "life"?

Sephiroth had entered into this world earlier that evening. He was currently on a search for anyone that may know or have information on the magic arts. That was something he missed. Certainly he knew how to summon some spells on his own, however, without materia learning new ones was a problem. Notre Dame was an olden world that he had stumbled upon in his travels through the corridors of darkness. Maybe he could find some answers here?

He walked into the bar quite driven to quench his thirst with his favorite beverage. He sat down next to the red head. The man looked down in the dumps, but he knew underneath it all, was a fiery demeanor. Sephiroth looked up at the bartender placing a few coins on the table.

"Red wine. I don't care what kind just red," he stated simply tossing his gil pouch back into his coat.

His gaze turned to the lanky man beside him and raised his eyebrow ever so slightly. He certainly looked like he had more than enough to drink, but that was his discretion. He recognized him though if only slightly. He had observed men in Hollow Bastion lurking around in black coats around Dark Depths. He never bothered to look into their names. He just knew they existed.

"I have seen you before..." He commented under his breath as his drink was served to him.

Larxene honestly had no pressing business in Notre Dame, just plain curiousity and a want for a wee bit of information. It was a place she had never been sent to.. and once she got there, she could clearly see why. It was full of foreign speaking idiots too wrapped up in their own bullsh*t to see what was really happening in the world or able to answer even the most basic of questions.

Not that she understood French anyhow but the snippets of English she got in reply weren't exactly helpful either. If she thought she could have gotten away with it, she would have used a few for target practice. It had been far too long since she'd drawn blood with her knives and these folks were just asking for it by being so stupid.

The bar was off to the side.  The lively chatter from within drew her attention away from assaulting a random passerby just for the fun of it. You know what else she hadn't done in a while? Had a drink that wasn't one of Marluxia's fruity fancy wines. Maybe someone would start a barfight too. That would be great, she really was that bored.

Her heels clicked against the floor as she made her way inside, nudging some poor sap out of the way so she could reach the bar itself. If they dared to tell her women didn't drink in this particular world, someone was getting a knife up their a**.

"Hey you." Larxene leaned over the counter, smiling though the tone of her voice was hardly pleasant. "Give me whatever it is you pathetic folk think passes for a good stiff drink around here and if you make it quick, I might just be in a good mood, kay~? Thank you~."

She settled into what had to be the most uncomfortable seat ever and let her gaze wander the room just to see if anyone of any worth was there. That's when she caught sight of the shock of red hair. Was that..? Oooh... this just got a hundred times more interesting. So the traitor was still around. Larxene would have to change that...

"Oh look! They serve flaming idiots here too. Nice to know." She remarked with a giggle.

Axel suddenly found himself in a bit of a pickle. With the most esteemed swordsman in the Multiverse on one side and the most aptly nicknamed member of Organization XIII on the other, to bolt in either direction would surely not end in his favor. Soothing the instinctive tensing of his shoulders, he offered XII an easy smirk.

"Larxene," he said, posture and expression suggesting that he was farther into his cups than was perhaps actually the case, thus buying him time to ferociously wrack his brain for some way to get out of here, under the pretense of carefully attempting enunciation. "I wondered if I'd be sheeing you around."

He knew better than to try and outrun her, even if he had a moment's head start. But perhaps a distraction.. Damn, but he should have known that if he had survived, others must have as well! It had occurred to him, of course, but he'd dismissed it, thinking surely his was an exception rather than the rule.. "Where's Fluffy?" He made a quick hair-toss gesture, a startlingly accurate imitation of Marluxia.

For now, he just pretended not to hear Sephiroth. Sure, he had heard of him, enough to recognize him (as if that monstrous sword wasn't a dead giveaway), but they didn't have history, and the last thing he needed was a dangerous new acquaintance. If he could manage to make himself seem not worth further examination, maybe he could at least avoid that situation. He was a decent fighter, but not even close to good enough to take them both at once.

Sephiroth took a sip of his wine, thanking the bartender. So the red one had a friend... she appeared just as interesting as he did. He never knew a girl was among their ranks, but that was neither here nor there. he would allow the red head, what did the girl call him, oh yes the flaming idiot, to ignore him for now. He could always get the information he wanted out of him later.

From the corner of his eye he watched the girl. She was a force to reckoned with. Any fiery tempered female was in his book. Jenova was one of them but at least she could no longer have mental conversations with him that would drive him up the walls. Just so long as this one did not see to release her rage on him; he would be fine with her.

"Shove it, flamer." Larxene narrowed her eyes. She really didn't appreciate his easy going reply though the name he called Marluxia was amusing. She would have to keep that one in mind if she ever saw Mr. Pink Haired Flowerpot again.

She grabbed the cup from the bartender when he brought it over, spilling a bit of it on the counter in her haste. Who knew what was actually in it, did it really matter? As long as it wasn't water or some fancy a** wine that tasted like sh*t, she'd drink it.

"You better hope I don't know where Marluxia is because if I'm right, he owes you a scythe in a very uncomfortable place." Her lips curled up into a sadistic smile. She wasn't sure what exactly had become of her former partner but if Axel had betrayed her, she was certain he'd betrayed Marluxia as well... and obviously survived. How unfortunate. "Then again, you might like that right about now. You sound absolutely wasted, which suits you seeings as how you are a waste."

Larxene brought the cup to her lips and gulped down quite a bit of the dark colored liquid inside. Manners? What were those? At least she was sure it wasn't water now.

"So.. who's your date?" She gestured to Sephiroth, smirk still platered upon her thin lips. Sure she was pretty sure she knew who he was but what was he doing in a dump like this?

Axel coughed delicately at Larxene's most crude insinuations - to be expected, from her - only to choke after the final question. "Pardon?" Genuinely caught off-guard, his "alcohol-induced haze" slipped a little, and he looked at Sephiroth, trying to decide if he should attempt to salvage the situation or just make a run for it and hope for the best.

His pride got the better of him - maybe the alcohol was having more of an effect than he thought - and he straightened, mustering a charming, somewhat fuzzy smile at XII. "Come now, Lark, you know you're the only one for me!"

Stay cool, VIII. Just stay cool.

Sephiroth looked up at her comment. This girl was fiery after all, very much so. He set his glass down keeping his calm and collected demeanor. There was no reason to allow himself to get irritated even over such a frivolous detail.

His eyes did meet the red head's for a moment. He obviously was not going to give the woman any edge to continue on with her tearing into him verbally. He was sure she would find a way though and that amused him. He turned his attention to Larxene.

"He is far from something I would date." He commented, turning back to his drink and sipping from it.

He would let them squabble for as long as they wanted. He was a patient man after all.

Larxene couldn't help but to giggle. Oh Axel, so easy to get to if one knew the right series of buttons to push. It was an amusing little game really, it wasn't like she had anything better to occupy her time with. Not yet anyhow. That needed to be rectified but later, after she'd ripped the redhead a new one with her words or her knives. Maybe both.

"Is that why you set me up to die? How utterly romantic." The nymph rolled her eyes at Axel's choice of words. Idiot. Did he really think she was stupid enough to fall for that? Her sharp gaze then fell upon Sephiroth. Hmn.. he was so.. calm. That was irritating. She wondered what she would have to do to get a reaction out of him.

"Most people wouldn't date the likes of him. Most people have taste." She took another sip from her cup, nearly emptying it. "Of course.. I can't speak for the idiots here. Is that why you're in this world, hmn~? Looking for a date? Oh you poor thing..."

Ignoring the further jabs, Axel shrugged mildly. "I was looking for a drink," he corrected, "probably same as you." He gestured vaguely with his absinthe spoon. "Also for information, but I seem to have come to the wrong place for that." There, perhaps a harmless hint of intrigue would distract her from trying to pick at Axel until he snapped. Isolation had left him out of practice, but he was not eager to spend enough time with Larxene to build back their former level of scathing rapport. He had better things to do with his time. Not many, but one was enough, if it kept him away from Larxene.

She had made a sport of this, hadn't she? He smirked a little ordering himself another glass. He was not planning on getting drunk. If anything just to take the edge off. He emptied the coins on the table before turning his attention to her. She wanted to test his patience. She could do that if she wished. He only knew of a handful of people who could get under his skin; all of which were either dead or not within his reach of meeting yet.

"Hardly." He responded. She did not need to know of the true reason he was here yet. "I am not in the need of a romantic interest."

He sipped from his newly replenished glass. He had to admit to himself this place did have nice wine. It was noteworthy enough to warrant another venture here if the fancy struck him. He turned his gaze to Axel when he spoke.

"I would imagine you have spent more time being kicked out of bars tonight than sitting down and actually drinking too much." He replied.

Larxene parted her lips to speak another biting retort to them both but the words Axel spoke last gave her pause to reconsider exactly what she wanted to say. Information? What could he possibly be after aside from that brat, Roxas? Stupid little.. hmn.. wait. Where-ever Roxas was, Sora had to be too or at least somewhere close. She owed Sora a few things after the way he had humiliated her back in Castle Oblivion. If Axel was seeking Roxas and she pretended to help him, then he might lead her right to Sora and if she found Sora, then she could get her revenge as well as use the brat for her own purposes.

Oh that was delicious. She just had to find out if those were Axel's plans now and that required.. ugh.. being somewhat nice. Oh well, end result would be totally worth it.

Larxene smiled softly and tapped the near empty cup on the counter, flinging a few coins towards the barkeep to indicate she wanted more. "Information, you say? What sort of information did you expect to find getting drunk off your a**? At least one of you knows this is no place to find romance." She ****ed her head towards Axel, leaning into his personal space. What if they both had the same goal? Wouldn't that be a trip..

Axel glanced at Sephiroth, eyes flickering with something like acknowledgement before he turned back to Larxene, only to find her a lot closer than he remembered her being.

He smirked. Death hadn't mellowed her out one bit. Your tongue may be sharp, but you don't scare me, kid.

"Well, the drinking sort of came after I realized that this trip was otherwise useless. I thought, since this world hadn't been one of our targets, maybe there were some refugees from other worlds who could tell me what had happened in my.. absence. Unfortunately, it appears that even if someone knew something, I wouldn't be likely to find them with this language barrier. Not to say I didn't try." His grin was sharp as he lifted his hands mildly.

At least he was not the only one looking for something. Of course his goals in mind were probably different than the other two. That would not stop him anyway. His favorite and most prized skill was how to manipulate people into getting what he wanted or at least tag along until a lead came his way.

"If you were looking for refugees you want to try the downtown sector," he offered.

He could see the female's mind ticking away. He did not know her intentions but could guess she only had the goal of using Axel. She pulled off as that kind of person. He was not one to judge so he would let her plot away. Besides, it always made life a little bit more interesting.

"Downtown, you say? Hmn..." Larxene quirked a brow at Sephiroth. The silver haired man perhaps knew more than he spoke. Now she had the urge to crack him, get him to spill though it might take more time than it was worth. Patience wasn't exactly one of her virtues. She would need to mull on that, watch him closely before making a move.

Her attention shifted back to Axel and she lifted a hand to stroke the side of his face. That always bothered him.. or at least she thought it did. She wondered if he'd let her or simply swat her away for trying. "So you decided to drink yourself into a stupor instead of finding information? That's so you."

Axel twitched a bit, but otherwise ignored her advances. "Hey, I had to try this stuff while I was here," he defended, gesturing again to the absinthe. "I've heard it makes you see some crazy ****, not like the diluted stuff you get in other worlds." He shrugged. "So far, the only crazy thing I've seen around here is you, my nymph~" He grinned - oh, don't be mad at Axel, you know he's just playing... right?

He glanced at Sephiroth, then, eyebrow quirking. "I don't suppose you'd know anything about Kingdom Hearts?"

The way the two teased and annoyed each other almost reminded him of a married couple, but he knew that wasn't the case. He set his glass on the table and pushed it to the side. He did not need to intoxicate himself further tonight. He would never understand why people drank to get rid of their problem when, in the end, it would only cause more.

When Axel mentioned Kingdom Hearts, it sent a click in his memory. He remembered his Organization talking about it constantly. Then there was the Sora kid he had fought twice already. He had no interest in whatever Kingdom Hearts was at the time and still did not. He was something else that he tried to stay away from. He had his own goals to deal with first before worrying over what this Kingdom Hearts was.

"A little. I once fought a boy named Sora who was venturing to find such a thing. Another tried to convince me to steal his keyblade for his own purposes." He replied with a slight smirk.

He would not understand why Hades would want something that he could never wield. Power was useless if one did not know how to wield it properly. Masamune was the same way in most respects. The sword was meant to be handled in a certain fashion and no other way. But that raised the question in his mind. What did these two want with Sora or the keyblade for that matter?

Larxene hid a little smirk. So he still didn't like being touched, did he? Hmn. Too bad. Especially after that little crack. Crazy, hmn? Oh he had no idea.

"You should really learn to just shut up Axel." She moved to brush a finger against his lips. "Words just get you in trouble and I don't think you want that. I do still owe you for that business back at Oblivion, hmn~?"

She would have stayed focused on him but Sephiroth's words drew her attention away. He knew of Kingdom Hearts? Interesting... but what really got her was the mention of that name - 'Sora'. So he had fought with the little brat too. Only difference was he appeared to have survived the encounter. How fortunate.

"So you know the keyblade master then?" Larxene purred in a charming tone of voice, ignoring the cup which the barkeep finally set in front of her. "Did you manage to defeat him?"

If Sephiroth replied with a yes, Larxene swore she might buy them all drinks to celebrate.

Axel couldn't resist baring his teeth in a grin that was something less than friendly in response to her teasing. Still, he kept his voice light. "Oh, can't we let bygones be bygones? You died, I died, what does it really matter who killed whom? We both seem to have made it out alright, and if we lost a few stragglers - think of it as a favor of fate." He smirked. Like any of them believed in fate, and even so; destiny was for whole people, not this twisted excuse for beings that they were.

He snorted softly at Larxene's question - surely it was meant to be rhetorical. "As this world and the others I have visited all seem to be quite intact, I'm going to hazard a 'no'," he drawled, glancing to Sephiroth for confirmation he was fairly certain he didn't need - but it never hurt to be sure.

"Knowing him and fighting him are two different matters," he said to Larxene, "No I did not win against him nor did I lose since I am still here." He said with slight amusement. "I tend to toy with those I fight. It makes it last longer and more enjoyable." He added.

Whenever he fought Cloud the story remained the same. He was powerful, but if he did not hold back or toy with his victims all the fun would be lost in the fight for him. He wanted to make sure he got his enjoyment out of it. Fighting was something he lived for. Where others considered it a profession, he considered it a hobby. He loved indulging in it.

He turned his attention out of his mind for the moment and back to the two clothed in black. If they were here did that mean they wanted the keyblade from the kid as well? His curiosity and urge to know more got the best of him.

"You both seem interested on more information on the child. What intentions do you have for him?" he questioned.

"Mn... you sound like my type of guy." Larxene offered Sephiroth a soft, knowing smile. How refreshing to find that attitude in someone else. Toys weren't worth breaking unless they had outlived their usefulness or grown irritating.. which was why she likely wouldn't kill Sora. Or Axel for that matter. Once one was dead, the game was over and though the thrill of victory was often sweet - it was never lasting.

"And Axel, dear, you're lucky I'm in a good mood now. I'll spare you a knife in the back this time." She spoke softly to Axel, one eye closing in a playful wink. With that she drew back and took the refilled cup in one hand, content that she had made Axel uncomfortable enough by playing 'badtouch the pyro'. "You do have a point. The elders are gone then? No big loss."

Lifting the cup to her lips, she took a not so lady-like gulp of the dark liquid and closed her eyes. This burned a bit more going down than the last had. It must have been something stronger. Good.

"I have no intentions for Sora whatsoever." She set the cup down, knowing she was lying through her teeth. Truth be told, she wanted to hear what Axel's intentions were before speaking any further on the matter.

"I can't say for sure, but I think their silence is answer enough," Axel commented vaguely, waving down the bartender and proceeding through an abbreviated pantomime to communicate that he'd take something a little softer, this time around. With current company, he wanted to keep his head relatively clear. "If I run into anyone, I'll be sure to let you know." Possibly a lie, but a harmless one.

His eyebrows quirked at Larxene's 'lack of intentions,' but he only shrugged, leaning back on his stool to reply to Sephiroth. "Honestly, I haven't decided past finding out if the kid is still alive or not, and if he's still out playing Hero of the Worlds or Capture the Flag or whatever they're calling it these days." He drained the glass placed in front of him without looking at it, and nearly choked. "Is this water?" He demanded of the bartender incredulously. "I'm thirsty, not dirty." He slammed the glass down, giving the man a telling glare. "Try again."

The elders must have meant their leaders. Of course if it was an Organization it did have to have some kind of hierarchy. Sephiroth never knew them well enough to judge exactly what the order was or how things were ran.

He looked to Larxene, smirking every so slightly. He rarely broke the countenance of his faceless facade but that warranted it. At least they understood and stood on the same ground on at least one point. He turned his attentions back to Axel who seemed to have at least eased up on his consumption. He was not sure if he could handle a drunken stranger he had just met. He never really did like it when his friend drank. It usually ended horribly and with missing clothes the next morning.

"He must have something you cherish or want. There would be no other reason for you to just entertain a notion on his living state." Sephiroth commented. He knew there were motives behind everything and Axel had to be hiding something.

"Well, well. Something good came out of this after all." The nymph kept the soft smile upon her lips as she eyed both men then took another drink from her cup. Of course Sora had something Axel wanted. Sora was part of Roxas and Larxene was well aware the redhead had a fixation on XIII that bordered on obsessive. Not that she was going to comment on that. Not at this moment anyhow. She had to admit, she was curious what became of the brat.

"If you're going to find that kid, I wouldn't go doing it alone flamer. You remember how many tricks he had up his sleeve. I doubt he'll be happy to see your lame a**." Larxene tapped the cup against the counter. "Hey you! Barkeep of the stupid flower language, I know you have stronger than this."

Well, that was at least half of his cards on the table, now. Axel closed his eyes briefly, a bitter smirk twisting his lips. "You don't know the half of it, Twelve."

No, Sora would be happy to see him. Sora thought anyone who wasn't trying to kill him was his new best friend. If anything, Axel would watch his back around Sora's real-best-friend/sidekick/who-knew-what-else, that self-styled miniature Sephiroth who fought so hard to take Roxas away from him. Who did take Roxas away from him. For that matter, perhaps he should be watching his back around Axel.

But he'd have to have a death wish not to watch his back around Larxene; Roxas's back, as well.

"Surely you aren't hinting that I should take you along? I'm not that drunk." As if attempting to rectify this, he snatched the glass the bartender placed in front of him and swirled the contents absently before downing it in one gulp. "Not that stupid, even if I was."

Sephiroth had to quirk his eyebrow at the mention of the name Twelve. It was such an odd nickname. He remembered his clones being numbered. Maybe it was the same with them? But of course they weren't clones. It may be related to the time each joined the Organization or the rank they held within. His mind thought too much on the matter as it always had a habit of doing. He loved to calculate and deduced a conclusion from such rather quickly. It always helped him in the past.

"She appears to be more adapt at fighting than you, Axel, I believe your name is. Against this Sora you may not stand if a chance." Sephiroth commented almost off handed in the manner, "Either way sitting around at this bar getting intoxicated is not going to help your situation. When trying to find someone you usually are out extracting information and getting leads; not wasting your time getting drunk and wasting coins."

Leave it to himself to point out the obvious and logical form of reasoning for the situation. He did not get it. If Axel were looking for Sora why was he here? It seemed to consume his goals at the moment, but yet here he was getting drunk. He reminded him of some of Shinra's old executives. Unless there was something more emotionally involved with Sora than Axel had lead him to believe. If that were the case then things could get more complicated.

Larxene didn't bother to stifle the giggle that escaped her lips. Of course she was a better fighter, it was just obvious. She was the Savage Nymph, not some gay name like Flurry of Dancing Flames. Honestly, Xemnas must have been on something when he came up with that. Something better than whatever sh*t the barkeep kept filling her cup with.

Smiling softly, she leaned into Axel's personal space again with the full intent of making him uncomfortable. She really hadn't appreciated being blown off, not that she really cared if he wanted her to go with him or not. He was, to her knowledge, the only Organization member left and nobodies seemed drawn together whether they liked it or not.

"He has a point eight, two of them actually." She hated reverting to calling members by their ranks. It reminded her too much of the elders. "We don't know what happened to Sora exactly. Obviously you know more than I do but the fact you're hinting like you're serious about going somewhere to find him tells me you didn't stick around 'till the end either." She reached to toy with a lock of his spiked hair. "Is that your game, hmn? You are just wasting time here if that's the case but that's so typical of you."

Axel had made a serious mistake in coming here. He was more than aware of that, now; the knowledge skulked down his spine, creeping claws that burned like ice. The last drink felt like acid in his throat, and he kept his eyes closed to keep from lashing out, expression deceptively calm.

"I have some idea of where he is," he murmured, quiet and dark and sharp. Never tell, never tell, never f*cking tell. I'll die again before I hand him over to you.

F*ck, what the f*ck was wrong with him. His chest hurt - not heartache, but emptiness, feeling-without-feeling, and something sinking in his stomach like despair.

Sephiroth watched the nymph lean over into the other's personal space. This was one reason he did not let others get close to them. You let them get close and they force you to let your guard down. Keeping distance made things simpler.

"If you know where he is why do you not seek him?" He questioned. "Is it because some painful has happened because of him? Or is it he has hurt your feelings?" Sephiroth smirked a little to himself.

He noticed the slight waiver in Axel's form. It was probably the drinking from the night kicking in. It really was in the red head's best interest to find a place to stay for the night by this point in the game. Sephiroth rose from the bar counter himself, straightening his coat sleeves out. He was always strict about keeping a neat appearance. He hated things out of order or out of place. Some may call it obsessive, but he knew it as life.

"You should find an inn for the night before you pass out on the bar counter."

"Hmn.. he's right you know.." Larxene gave Axel's hair a little tug. She wasn't trying to hurt him this time, just being playful. The sharp tone in his voice had given rise to her curiousity but at the same time, she could sense tension growing in him. Tension she was certain Sephiroth's remark might set off. After all, she had wondered if Axel had ever indulged his little Roxas obsession in some not so innocent ways. Teasing him about it could be fun.. but even Larxene knew when it was wise to hold her tongue.

"We could find a nice place to spend the night... have a little talk.. you wouldn't want me to be out here by myself with these idiots would you?" To be perfectly honest, Larxene didn't want him to leave her behind. 'Fluffy', her pretty consort, wasn't any where to be found and at this point in her 'life' (Ha, wasn't that an ironic word to use?), she had no direction to follow. The flamer might have betrayed her and she still had full intent to get him back for that but for now, she needed him.

Axel frowned deeply, eyebrows furrowing, dark eyes still firmly shut. He would not, would not, cross f*cking Sephiroth. Maybe, on a good day, if he was lucky, he might escape something like that with most of his limbs still intact, but in his current state he knew he would be dead faster than he had time to realize his mistake.

So he ignored him, and smirked at Larxene instead, though his eyes remained hard. "I have no doubt you can handle all the idiots this world can throw at you," he returned smoothly, his voice surprisingly even. "Furthermore, I am not coming any closer to unconsciousness while I can still see you." The smart thing would be to get away from her as fast as he could. Then again, the truly smart thing would have been to never come to this ridiculous world in the first place, but hey, there's a saying about hindsight.

"We will get separate rooms, and we will not have any "talks" until tomorrow," he said, voice taking on a rarely-heard authoratative note that informed Larxene that on these points, he would not budge, and she could take it or leave it.

Sephiroth watched them idly from the corner of his vision. He smirked. At least the redhead still had some of his wits about him. He was not as stupid as he appeared on the outside. It seemed once he was pushed into a corner he would show the backbone he seemed to lack in earlier conversation. He would have to make a note for future reference on that account. Knowing someone made them much easier to manipulate when the time arose.

Not caring to watch them bicker back and forth anymore, Sephiroth headed out of the tavern and to the nearest inn. True, he could not speak the language of the people here, but he knew enough gestures and how to throw coins to get what he wanted. The inn was as untidy as the rest of this place. He knew it was an older time here, but he still detested anything remotely grungy and this was the cleanest place in town from what he could see. As he walked into the establishment heads turned. He always did attract quite a crowd even on Gaia.

He walked over to the receptionist's counter. She bantered on in her native tongue. Sephiroth easily read the numbers behind her head posted on a sign to deduce the amount he would have to pay. Setting the coins on the table without any sound, the receptionist returned the gesture with a smile and a room key. She said something else which he could only deduce meaning something akin to: Have a nice stay here! There was no wonder that he and the redhead were having no luck in this town. Everyone here spoke a different language. Of course there were those few people in downtown that knew his language and were struggling as much as he was.

He stood for a moment off to the side of the counter, thinking. He played with the small key in his hand, pondering what his next move would be. It was clear those two had semblances of power. They would either know how to get to said materia or at least know where one could learn such things closely resembling that.

Out of boredom, Sephiroth gently plucked one of the small round orbs from his bracelets. It was his favorite. The green orb shone brilliantly even in the light of the inn. Inside of it contained the vortexes of fire. Even with Gaia gone, Hades somehow managed to restore his body with his materia. Even without Gaia the materia would latch on to the life force of whatever world he was on to use its power. Rolling it around between his fingers, he smirked to himself. It was one of those things he missed about his world.

Larxene was vaguely aware of Sephiroth's departure. A pity that was. He was an interesting man but then again, he was not a Nobody and she did not know his true nature. Axel, well she was more than certain she knew how to handle him. He was just like the rest of them: worthless men with no hearts although that deal with Roxas did lead her to wonder.

"So you can disappear while I'm asleep, right? Do you think I'm stupid, Axel?" She raised a brow as she spoke and smiled. "Or do you think I'll stab you in your sleep? Oh you foolish man.." She reached to stroke the side of his face. "That's no fun for either of us."

Larxene withdrew, feeling a bit lightheaded as she took the cup into one hand and finished off whatever was left in it, tossing a few coins up on the bar counter after. She waved off the tender, gesturing she was done. No need to get wasted after all.

"Two heads are better than one. If you want information, it might be best if you had someone to help you get it. Look how lousy you're doing on your own, utterly pathetic!" Sliding off the bar stool, she smiled sweetly to him though her intent was anything but.

Again, Axel ignored Larxene's advances - to balk, he was sure, would only amuse her. With a grimace, he stood and pulled some munny from his coat and dropped it onto the counter. Customarily, he simply opened a portal and left without paying - no one seemed eager to chase him into the Dark Corridors, for some reason - but circumstances did not seem to invite that sort of behavior this evening.

"History has shown, Larxene," he drawled purposefully over her name, "that I operate quite well independently." Axel grinned, his gaze sharpening. "Or did you forget Castle Oblivion?" He leaned on the bar, lifting one eyebrow. "Even if I needed help, why would I want it from you?"

And yet, he wasn't running. Whether that was from certainty he couldn't outrun her, or genuine interest in her proposal, one could hardly be sure.

The nymph narrowed her eyes at the reference to Oblivion. She had hated that place. She hated what it stood for even more. Neither of the men she had trusted had come to aid her when the time came. One betrayed her, the other simply didn't care. Worthless fools.

"You merely got lucky." She spoke through gritted teeth. "Do you want to take that gamble again when everyone knows your true nature?" She casually ran a hand down the length of her coat, straightening any creases from sitting down. "I don't think it's very wise, not that you ever were wise to begin with."

Axel laughed then - a brittle, humorless sound. "Everyone is dead, in case you hadn't noticed," he said with a broad gesture at the lack of Organization members around them. "So no, I'm not really worried."

"Your nature, however, has always been more than clear. Saying that you wish to help me only make me more certain that you intend the opposite." He shrugged one shoulder, leaning over so that their eyes were level. "Can you prove me wrong?"

Larxene met his gaze without flinching, green eyes staring deep into his as a slight smile returned to her thin lips.

"You misjudge me." She spoke plainly, setting aside her taunting tone at least for now. It wouldn't get her anywhere with him. If she wanted to go along on this little information gathering hunt, she would have to behave.. as much as that made her stomach turn. "Did I act against Marluxia? Did I not do what he asked of me? I could have turned on him you know but I wanted to help him."

She tilted her head, trying her best to offer a soft and trusting smile. "If the others are dead and we're the only ones left, shouldn't we work together? Who knows what's still out there."

Axel's expression remained flat for several long moments before his lips twitched and he chuckled softly, a marked few degrees warmer than before. "Perhaps, perhaps." There were far too many counters to why she had wanted to help Marluxia - that was a discussion that he wasn't really interested in starting, now.

The warmth left his eyes abruptly, and he pinned her with a serious gaze. "If you are with me, and we find him, you will not hurt him. And, as he is allegedly whole, now, "hurt" will extend to harming any of his.. friends," he spat the word as if it left a foul taste in his mouth. "You know where my loyalties lie, Larxene. A fight between us might not have a certain victor, but were it myself and the Keybearer against you.. but I'm sure you're smart enough to avoid that, hm?" His thin smirk was not threatening so much as matter-of-fact.

Larxene thought to reply to his words with a harsh, taunting strike. One that would jab at that little vunerable point he had for Roxas and his other and painfully poke whatever emotions he could feel. But that wouldn't get her what she wanted and would leave her alone with no allies. Revenge would be more difficult that way as would any chance of using the keybearer for her own purposes.

She swallowed back the bitter insult though it went against her nature and kept her gaze serious. Her voice was even, quietly spoken. "You mean he's become Sora again. That wasn't part of the plan but if it's what he wanted, I guess it's not my place to object or intervene." That of course was a lie. "If not harming him or his friends is what it takes to pacify you, consider it done. I'll not lay a hand nor a knife upon their bodies so long as they don't seek to harm me."

She purposely did not promise to spare them her lightning of course.

Of course, Axel noticed the "oversight," but at this point he saw no purpose in pointing it out. Whether or not Larxene was a danger to Roxas would become evident long before he could actually reach the former-Nobody, he was sure. There would be plenty of time to get rid of her, if he needed to.

"Fine," he said shortly, eyes shuttered as his mind worked behind them. "For now. If you give me reason to change my mind, I'm sure you'll figure it out when you turn around and find yourself alone again."

With that, Axel straightened, made a vague and unnecessarily dramatic gesture of farewell to the sullen bartender, and headed for the door, assuming Larxene would follow.

"Agreed." At least until something better came along. It would be difficult to hold herself back but she was certain she'd find other ways to fill her needs.

Larxene folded her hands behind her back demurely. An attempt to again appear harmless and appealing as she followed close on Axel's heels. She assumed he had some idea where to go in this godforsaken place. She hadn't found much in her own explorations aside from idiots who needed a knife to the gut.

Once outside the small building, Axel glanced back at Larxene, eyes creasing with a grin that finally reached them. "I learned a few tricks, since I've been here. Or, at least one."

Reaching smoothly into his pocket, the tall Nobody withdrew a couple of shiny coins and held them above his head, pausing for a moment and then calling, "Speak English?"

For a moment, he may have looked foolish, but by the next, at least half a dozen grimy children were tugging at the hem of his coat, parroting back at him in thin, eager voices. "Speak English - English, Monsieur!"

Coins still held high enough that they couldn't be snatched, Axel carefully enunciated. "Two coins now, and three more to the one who can take myself and the lady to the finest inn in the district, hm?" He was met by predominantly blank stares, but for one boy who babbled something in French and proceeded to tug more insistently at his coat.

Looking to Larxene with a quirked eyebrow, he muttered, "Shall we?" Before turning back to the child. "Lead the way, kid."

Well now that was something she wouldn't have tried. She wasn't sure whether to be impressed or disgusted. After all, he had attracted only dirty little street rats. Yes, they were dirty little street rats with information but street rats all the same.

She held her tongue instead of insult the manner in which he'd decided to seek out a proper hotel and instead simply nodded, preparing to follow after the kid.

"Seperate rooms still, flamer?" She spoke it quietly. "Or do you trust I won't hurt you?"

Axel looked sideways at her, raising his one shoulder in a lazy shrug. "I didn't know I had a choice." He countered. "Or do you trust I won't run?"

It was only long practice and lack of real feeling that allowed Axel to hide his relief when the child led the to what seemed to be a modest but fairly wholesome inn, a multi-storeyed, plaster-walled structure that appeared to be halfway through the process of having shiny new shingles laid over a formerly-thatched roof.

He flipped the coins smartly over his shoulder for the boy to scramble for, sing-songing a poorly-accented "Merci" as he rapped sharply on the door with one bony fist. This place didn't seem quite commercially advanced enough to have conceived the innovation of a "front desk," yet.

Larxene gave a shrug of her shoulders. Of course she didn't trust him not to take off, why should she? She suspected that was mutual though at least for now, the pyro seemed to believe her false promises.

"One room is cheaper than two." She added. "Seperate beds though, hmn?"

She didn't eleborate on that, she was sure if any snarky sexual innuendo was coming out that it would be from Axel. No use in giving him ideas even if it might be amusing to watch him balk at the suggestion that anything happen between them.

Pausing at the door behind the redhead, she watched the kid scramble like a rat for the coins. How pathetic. Like munny meant anything anyhow!

"Not too bad.. I suppose.." She mused, attention back on the 'establishment' where they'd apparently be spending the night. It beat the pale white walls of Oblivion anyhow..

No, no sexual innuendo tonight, dear nymph. Axel snorted and gave her a look, flat-eyed and unimpressed. "Separate beds," he confirmed.

The Nobody's expression brightened drastically as the door opened, bathing his pasted-on smile in warm lamplight. "Good evening!" He said, smile sliding into something more charming as he saw the aging woman peering at him. "My lady cousin and I are looking for a place to stay the night. We have munny.." He lifted a small bag, fat and jingling with coins, and his smile sharpened when her eyes gleamed. "Might you have any rooms unfilled? One with two beds, perhaps?"

The woman blinked at him, gears almost visibly turning behind her eyes as she puzzled through translating his words. "Room, tonight, yes," she finally answered in a thickly-accented contralto, bobbing her head and opening the door wider, but paused before letting them in, eyes narrowing. "You pay now. Meals extra."

"Of course, of course," Axel agreed magnanimously, before glancing over his shoulder at Larxene. "Hungry?"

Cousin?!

Larxene made a bitter face as if the mere implication that they were related was incredibly nauseating. She supposed it was the best he could come up with, at least he didn't call her his 'sister'. That was a small plus. She might have had to backhand him for such an insult.

Stepping behind the redhead, she bobbed her head in a nod. Drinking on an empty stomach hadn't been wise, there were times she forgot that her body still needed nourishment. Better rectify that while she had the chance to get someone else to pay for it.

"And don't think I'll eat slop either. I expect real food. Cooked. Not tasteless." The nymph folded her arms across her small chest.

"Larxene, please," Axel drawled, rolling his eyes, "We're in France." Who ever heard of bad French food?

Relaying their intentions to the innkeeper, or his wife, or whoever she was, Axel waited until she was out of earshot and stepped inside, murmuring to the other Nobody, "and don't make that face. It was cousin or wife, unless you wanted her to assume you were my.. "hired entertainment" for the evening?" He smirked. "I couldn't deny my hypothetical good taste."

Larxene's eyes narrowed and her hand lifted to lightly swat his arm before she could stop herself. What the hell was that? Good taste her a**, she was pretty sure Axel would do anything that moved and had a hole.

"Cousin, wife or wh*re? Great choices there Axel.." She murmured under her breath. "So you'd rather be stuck realated to me than marry me, hn, the feeling is quite mutual." The nymph stuck her tongue out at him. A childish act for certain but then again, Larxene wasn't known for her maturity anyhow.

"You have no idea how much of a relief that is to me," Axel said, mockingly earnest. Despite his words, however, the amusement behind his eyes seemed genuine.

He followed the proprietress into a warm and well-lit dining room. "Sit," she ordered, and he did so promptly, leaning back in a surprisingly comfortable wooden chair. The woman then disappeared into the kitchen, muttering under her breath in French. Axel watched her go, and then turned a bemused look on Larxene, eyebrows raised.
